Deck the Halls With Lots of Cobwebs! 🕸️

OCTOBER IS HERE!!
Hello my watercolor-loving friends!
My daughter has been BEGGING me to get out the Halloween decor, and I swore I would NOT DO IT until October 1st, but I gave in yesterday and our. halls. are. decked. with all things black and orange, fall leaves, pumpkins and 🕸️ cobwebs. (The cobwebs were already there, I like an organic approach! 🤪)

While I love fall here in Idaho where I live, I know what’s lurking just around the corner....WINTER. And winters here have been ROUGH. And add to that having a teen who uses a wheelchair to get around, the snow is not our friend!
However, I am really trying to be mindful about the emotions and thoughts I am allowing...
Really making sure I am soaking in the season that I love so very much and not ruining the present (which is a GIFT!!) by getting caught up in anxiety and dread that inevitably tries to creeeep in.

I was thinking about how applicable that is to our art practice. We all have a goal in mind of where we want to be with our art, even if it is a vague one. While goals are amazing, and I highly recommend having them, we do need to be mindful that we don’t get so preoccupied with “getting there” that we completely miss out on the joy of the creative process. The future is not guaranteed!
All we have is now!

My hope is that we can all remember that this week as we are scrolling our feeds, watching the newest YouTube tutorial, or taking a class, that:
Every artist is somewhere different on their art path.
We cannot compare our beginning or middle to someone else who is much further on in their creative journey.
We are all exactly where we are meant to be!
And finally, I am profoundly grateful that you accompany me on MY wondrous watercolor journey!!
Have a lovely week!
